If you want to make one day trips near Berlin I can recommend you 5 places which are near and are worth visit. Actually my first advice is to see every interesting place near your apartment in Berlin. in Germany’s capital first and then go sightseeing in the province, so if you still haven’t done it, find time and check Berlin, definitely an amazing city.
The first place I can think of is Frankfurt-an-der-Oder. Don’t get confused with Frankfurt because the names are similar. Frankfurt is in the south west of the country, while this one is a really beautiful small town located approximately 100 km from Berlin – it is in state of Brandenburg. Quite near to the border of Poland, actually. It will take you around one hour to go there if you are using a train. What is really amazing in Frankfurt-an-der-Oder is the architecture itself. Amazing gothic structures, post office, town hall and of course the Friedenskirche – one of the best old stone buildings – a must see for sure.
The next place is Szczecin – actually it is in Poland and it’s famous with its seaport – the biggest in Poland in fact. Interesting places you should visit there – Maritime Museum which is a branch of the National museum by the way. Don’t forget to visit the Zamek Ksiazat Momorskich which has been recently restored as far as I know after being bombed during the WWII. If you have extra time go to a musical concert or any opera and I can guarantee you will never forget it
Number three on the list is Spreewald Forest. Probably you have already noticed that Berlin is surrounded by hundreds of miles of greenery, lakes. You can take a paddle boats for you and your whole family or even try cycle rides, hot-air ballooning, thermal baths and canoeing. And don’t forget to try the famous spreewald cucumbers as well! They are not as good as the cucumbers in Italy so maybe you should find apartment in Milan and go to check them too.
Neuhardenberg Castle is also a must see plus it is only 30 km out of Berlin. The castle is an amazing estate built in the 17th century. Except the beauty of the building you will have the chance to see wonderful park grounds engulfing the castle. The nearby Schinkel church is often a host for many concerts during the summer.
Last but not least I should recommend Wandlitz – another small and typical German town which has kept its culture and traditions during the years. You can go there with a short ride with train from Berlin. This is definitely one of the most German-looking towns if we may say it in that way, of course. Lots of little old churches, beautiful streets and nice people – this is just a part of everything you will see in this amazing small town.
These are five of the must see places near Berlin and of course it’s my personal opinion but I’m almost sure that everyone will like all of them because they are all traditional places for Germany and German culture.
If you want to visit another interesting city you should go to Milan where you can find accommodation in Milan apartments.
